2.14: Understand the importance in Plants of Turgid Cells as a Means of Support

DEFINITION OF TURGID: Swelling with Water

  • Plant Cells needs to be Turgid as they will be swelling with water
  • Size of Cytoplasm will be larger so Cell Membrane will be pushed against Cell Wall, exerting pressure outwards
  • Cells will be stronger, allowing the Upward growth of the Plant
